Bespoke Handmade Banquette Seating

Dining in the kitchen has become popular in recent times, and there's nothing like a banquette, which is the most perfect booth seating of them all. This type of seating adds a cosy vibe to the space, working with a variety of design styles such as traditional and contemporary. They add character, allowing you to dress them up and give a more practical idea than individual chairs. Homes have become more casual today, and this type of seating refers to built-in benches that are often found in restaurants and cafes. It is a much cosier way to dine, and they are showing up in many open-plan kitchens across the globe. With a banquette, you can maximise the eating area while minimising the footprint of the area, which makes them ideal for smaller, tighter spaces. You don't need to walk behind this type of seating, so it enables you to fit a dining table into an area that may be too crowded with a standalone table and chairs.

Bespoke Banquette Seating at a Glance

Banquette seating is a built-in, upholstered bench, often placed under a window, wrapped around an island or set into a breakfast nook, that seats more people in less space than freestanding chairs. Because it is fixed and needs no room to pull chairs out, it fits dining into tighter kitchens, and the base can be built with lift-up tops or pull-out drawers for hidden storage.

They can be designed and built into a breakfast nook or created with just a bench seat on one side of a table and placed underneath a window. The bench is then upholstered for maximum comfort with pillows that match the rest of the style. It doesn't just offer an efficient space, but it also has the benefit of being built with lift-up tops or drawers to accommodate additional storage in the hub of the home. We all love more storage! Banquette Seating FAQs

What is banquette seating?

Banquette seating is a built-in, upholstered bench used for dining, often placed under a window, wrapped around an island, or set into a breakfast nook. It is a cosier, more characterful alternative to freestanding chairs and can be shaped to fit the room exactly.

What are the benefits of banquette seating?

A banquette seats more people in less space, adds a warm, cosy feel, and can be built with lift-up tops or pull-out drawers for hidden storage. It also removes the visual clutter of chair backs and legs, keeping the kitchen looking tidy.

Is banquette seating good for small kitchens?

Yes. Because it is fixed and you do not need room behind it to pull chairs out, a banquette lets you fit a dining area into a space that would be too tight for a standalone table and chairs, which is exactly why our Kensington client chose one where there was no room for an island.

Can banquette seating include storage?

Yes, and it is one of the best reasons to choose it. The base can be built with lift-up seat tops or pull-out drawers underneath, giving you the full footprint of the bench as extra storage for table linen, less-used items or books.
